Standing tall over the village of Llanberis, Snowdon offer outstanding views across Snowdonia, Anglesey, Pembrokeshire and Ireland. There are six main paths to the summit and we select our route carefully according to the weather and your experience & fitness levels. Whether you're a keen rambler or you just love incredible landscapes, reaching the highest point in Wales is an unforgettable personal achievement. Snowdon is a mountain of sharp contrasts; it's the most frequently climbed mountain in the UK with over 700,000 visitors each year, but it's also designated as a national nature reserve for its rare flora and fauna! Snowdon was formed by volcanoes over 400 million years ago during the Ordovician period, and the massif was extensively sculpted by glaciation; these glaciers that were at their peak 18,000 years ago in Snowdonia, scouring out great U-shaped valleys, including Llanberis and Nant Gwynant, forming the pyramidal peak of Snowdon, and forming rocky ‘cwms’ or corries, hanging tributary valleys often with breath-taking waterfalls cascading over them. The same glaciers also created the characteristic knife edge arêtes of Crib Goch and Y Lliwedd, formed where two ‘cwms’ formed on either side of the mountain. The mountain is steeped in British mountainneering history as the training base for the successful 1953 British Mount Everest expdition. You'll be guided by qualified Mountain Leader and Everest Summiter Ricky Munday.
