Challenge yourself to climb 7 Munros in a day!
At 1,214 metres high, Ben Lawers is the 10th highest mountain in the UK and the highest in the Southern Highlands. It sits at the centre of a chain of 7 Munros which fit walkers can achieve in one long day.
The Ben Lawers range of 7 Munros are:
  • Meall a’Choire Leith: 926m
  • Meall Corranaich: 1,069
  • Beinn Ghlas: 1,103m
  • Ben Lawers: 1,214m
  • An Stuc: 1,118m
  • Meall Garbh: 1,118m
  • Meall Greigh: 1,001m

This is a challenging 27 km (17 mile) route with over 1,600m of height gain overall, and a target time of 10 hours. It requires a good level of fitness and lots of determination. The stunning views and varied terrain all add to the enjoyment.

This is also a great training walk for any of our challenge events, such as the National Three Peaks Challenge, the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge or one of our international expeditions.

Once you've booked, you’ll be sent joining instructions and kit list. We can also provide advice on local accommodation and other activities.

Route Map & Altitude Profile

Is it suitable for me?

The Ben Lawers 7 Munro Challenge requires a good level of fitness and you must be able to walk for up to 10 hours over hilly ground. The route is not technical, but it is a tough walking challenge in terms of distance and time.

Weather & terrain

The terrain of the Ben Lawers 7 Munro Challenge includes well-worn paths, boggy areas (particularly after rain), steep ascents and descents. Poor weather makes the walk harder and it’s essential that participants have good footwear and adequate outdoor clothing to protect you from the elements. The weather on the route can be unpredictable so be prepared for all conditions! You can check some local weather forecasts below. South Grampian and Southeast Highlands

Water on your walk

We recommend a Water-to-Go filter water bottle for this event - it saves you carrying extra weight on this long hill day and you can fill up safely and drink water from the streams on the route.

What’s included?

  • Mountain Leaders on a maxium 1:10 ratio
  • Live GPS tracking & shareable links for family/friends
  • 20% discount on Water-to-Go bottles
