We're award-winning, accredited outdoor experts & we offer navigation, mountain skills, expedition training & winter skills training in north Wales & the Scottish highlands.

Join our courses to learn the basic skills you need to operate safely in the UK mountains in summer or winter.

Mountain Skills (2 days) - we'll equip you with basic knowledge & safety skills so you can participate in more ambitious mountain walking in your own time. This is an ideal choice for beginners or walkers interested in transferring their walking skills to mountainous terrain
Navigation Skills (2 days) - our Bronze & Silver Navigator Awards teach you essential map reading & compass skills to take you from relying on friends or guidebooks to being able to plan a walk and follow it successfully. Our Silver courses take place on more difficult terrain away from easy-to-follow paths and trails. You'll learn to navigate in open country on short bearings and learn timing and pacing skils
Expedition Training Weekends (2 days) - Our Expedition Training Weekends give you the skills required to take on an overseas expedition, with advice on personal clothing and equipment, fitness and expedition health, camp craft, trekking & walking techniques & basic outdoors first aid tips
Winter Skills (2 days) - you'll gain confidence & experience with a wide range of winter hillwalking skills, including how to choose and use winter equipment, basic winter navigation, avalanche awareness and safety, allowing you the freedom to explore the UJK mountains year-round

We're licensed Mountain Training Cymru course providers for Mountain Skills courses. Mountain Training is the collection of awarding bodies for skills courses and qualifications in walking, climbing and mountaineering in the UK and Ireland.

We're licensed National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) course providers for our Navigator Bronze & Silver Navigator Awards which are personal performance, non-competitive, incentive schemes for all ages to learn navigation skills and gain confidence to get out and enjoy the countryside.

Expedition Training Weekend

Our Expedition Training Weekends are designed to prepare you for your first overseas trekking or mountaineering expedition. We'll spend most of our time on the hill learning about everything from clothing & kit to campcraft & expedition fitness. Read more

Ben Nevis Sunrise Ascent

Why we exist

At Inspire Alpine® we dream of a world where all young people have the opportunity to succeed. Yet, there is clear evidence of a persistent gap in attainment between young people from the richest and poorest backgrounds, which has a direct impact on school-leaver destinations and future income levels. We exist to help close this attainment gap.
