Win a trip to Everest Base Camp!

Welcome to our Everest Base Camp virtual trek Christmas Challenge! Beat the lockdown blues and join us on this extraordinary, immersive virtual trek to Everest Base Camp! Our inaugural virtual trek begins on 17th December and ends on 31st December, arriving at Everest Base Camp on Christmas Day!

As the highest mountain on earth, Everest has a magnetic appeal. The legendary trek to Everest Base Camp is is an unforgettable, adventurous 129-kilometre long journey in the heart of the stunning Khumbu valley, with over 7,650 metres of ascent! It's regarded as one of the most dramatic and picturesque treks in the mighty Himalaya. The scenery on the trek is varied and spectacular, the amazing energy, sights and smells of Kathmandu are enchanting, and the friendly, smiling Sherpa people will capture your heart.

We've created an innovative, immersive virtual Everest trek to give you an insight into the awe-inspiring scenery & Sherpa culture, encourage you to take local exercise, make positive life changes, and help improve your mental & physical wellbeing.

Free to enter, you can run, walk, hike, cycle or swim 129 kilometres over 15 days on exactly the same schedule as our real treks. Connect to Strava or other fitness apps to automatically sync your activities, or manually enter them on our challenge page. If you choose to fundraise for us, you'll have the chance to win a trip to Everest Base Camp for real!

Everyone who joins will also be entered into a prize draw to win an awesome Osprey Archeon 25 rucksack; a fully recycled and sustainable daypack with roll-top and raincover worth £150!

This event combines tactile physical elements with new digital technologies to connect you to - and immerse you in - the Khumbu Valley in Nepal and create an unique online outdoor experience.

Why should I fundraise for you?

We exist to help close the poverty-related attainment gap, and we help transform disadvantaged young people's lives - we help them have higher aspirations, be more ambitious, be more confident & more resilient. We reinvest a majority of profits into that social mission. Read these case studies to find out more.

P.s. don't forget that you can also win a free trip to Everest Base Camp by fundraising!

We'll also send you a physical Everest welcome pack that includes prayer beads, prayer flags, incense sticks & an incense holder to physically connect you with Nepal.

Make sure to share your progress on social media and tag us using @inspirealpine and #VirtualEBC.

Virtual EBC - How do I track activities?

Expand

How do I track my activities?

We are using a platform called Challenge Hound, which connects direct to your Strava so that any qualifying exercise will sync automatically. If you prefer, you can also upload your activities manually and instructions to do so are here. Add your activities daily, weekly, or all at once!

What is Challenge Hound?

After you register for our Virtual Everest Base Camp trek we'll provide you with a login code for the Challenge Hound event. You'll have to register for Challenge Hound using either Strava or Facebook, and you can set up your Strava account here. Watch your inbox for an email from us with further instructions. Be sure that you are not unsubscribed from our emails in order to ensure you receive important challenge instructions.

Challenge Hound syncs automatically with Strava. If you log activities with Strava, your challenge status will be updated automatically and there is no need to manually enter anything. A basic Strava account is free. You can also enter activities manually into Challenge Hound. If you are already using Fitbit, Garmin, MyFitnessPal, or another fitness app to track your exercise, these apps can be connected to Strava too so that your data flows automatically into Strava & Challenge Hound.

You'll receive an email from Challenge Hound after you complete any qualifying activity, with your current status in the challenge. You can visit Challenge Hound to view your personal challenge dashboard, as well as full challenge leaderboards and charts.
