This grade one scramble route is the most popular on the Tryfan Mountain which lies within the Ogwen Valley of Snowdonia. The low technicality of the route means that it is perfect for experienced walkers who are trying to test themselves or for scramblers who are sharpening their skills for a more technical scramble.

At 600 m high the scramble should be around 2km and take between 3-4 hours. Along this route there will be plenty of photo opportunities of the Ogwen Valley below.

One of the more complex aspects of this scramble if you were to complete it alone would be navigation, however don't worry as you will be accompanied on this trip by Ricky Munday, who successfully navigated his way to the summit of Everest in 2018.

Kit List

Safety

Your safety is our top priority. Our activities are fully risk assessed and we hold Public Liability Insurance via Lockton LLP. Our leaders carry a mountain first aid kit, an emergency shelter, a fully charged mobile phone & spare battery, spare warm clothing & emergency food and we have two-way radio contact with all of our guides at all times during an event. We hold a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Operator Licence.

Financial protection

We comply fully with the Package Travel Regulations and hold Financial Failure Insurance – so your money is fully protected. This policy will also include repatriation if required, arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of Inspire Alpine®. This insurance has been arranged by Towergate Travel through Zurich Insurance PLC.

Weather

Regardless of the time of year, we may experience cloud, rain, wind, sun and even snow. The temperatures will be much cooler higher on the mountain tops, so having layers that you can add to and take off will work. We will of course adjust walking plans to take into consideration any adverse conditions, otherwise we go out in ‘most’ weather conditions, hence having waterproof and warm kit will help us carry on with our plans. Your Mountain Leaders are experience and qualified to make appropriate decisions about group safety. They will carry necessary group and safety equipment and are certified in Outdoor Emergency First Aid.
