He's renowned for climbing Everest, but Ricky is also a STEM Polar Ambassador working with 14 primary schools across the UK to deliver the Polar Explorer Programme to help raise STEM aspirations. He was also the youngest ever member of the Executive team at the UK's national polar research organisation and visited Antarctica in 2015.

His primary school talk 'Follow Your Dreams' includes 20 interactive minutes on Antarctica (science, weather, wildlife, logistics) & 30 minutes on his failure & success on Everest with time at end for Q&A and trying on high altitude kit. For younger pupils, he offers a 30-minute talk with a focus only on Everest.

Both talks work well in assembly settings or in smaller classroom settings, and he has recently delivered both the shorter talk to P1-3 and the longer talk to P4-7 for a number of schools.

The key themes include perseverance, developing resilience, goal-setting and overcoming adversity

Ricky's visit to Ellwood Ricky's visit to St. Palladius

Ricky visited our school to give an amazing motivational presentation to pupils, parents and staff in Merrylee Primary. We felt privileged to listen to how he has achieved so much and helped so many people on the way. Hopefully other children get the chance to hear how we should all follow our dreams. A true inspiration that brought tears, laughter and wonder for all involved.
